Planned Electric Outage – Wednesday, August 19, 2020
Otero County Electric Cooperative’s provider, Tri-State Generation & Transmission, has recently been performing critical maintenance in one of our substations. As part of that work, a substation transformer was taken out of service at the Carrizo Substation. Maintenance on this piece of equipment has now been completed and crews will be taking an outage to bring this transformer back online. In order to do this, it will be necessary for Tri-State crews to take an outage that will affect the majority of members in our Northern Service Territory, including Alto, Capitan, Nogal, Carrizozo, Lincoln, Ruidoso Downs, San Patricio, Glencoe, Hondo, Tinnie, Arabela and outer lying portions of those locations. This outage will begin in the late-night hours of Wednesday, August 19 at 11 PM and should take approximately four (4) hours to complete, with restoration occurring by 3 AM, Thursday, August 20, provided crews do not encounter any unforeseen issues.
This outage has been scheduled in the overnight hours to cause the least disruption possible to all members affected. We know electric outages are never convenient, but crews will work as quickly as safely possible to minimize the amount of time your electric service is off.
